Biography

Xin Xia is a doctoral student in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Science Education. She is passionate about fostering student engagement in STEM fields and integrating artificial intelligence into STEM educational experiences. Xin has honed her expertise in developing survey instruments and mastering quantitative analytic skills to assess students’ preferences for science learning activities.

 

Her research experience in exploring students' experiences in secondary students' science fairs, middle school students' AI+Art projects, and minority post-secondary students' scientific conferences equipped her with solid qualitative research skills.

Xin’s research interests also include exploring the integration of Artificial Intelligence into science curriculum development aimed at creating dynamic and personalized learning experiences. Furthermore, she has been contributing to an AI + STEM curriculum project and focusing on enhancing student engagement through hands-on activities and exploring students' experiences in the AI + STEM curriculum.
